Tesla Model X 6 seater vs 7 seater comparison with photos

A lot of people consider to buy Model X has a concern which option they need to choose, especially for how many seats do we need, and what are the differences.

Model X has 4 options for seats choice, 5 seater, 6 seater, 6 seater with center console and 7 seater.

Main difference is 5 seats and 7 seats vs 6 seats. 5 seater and 7 seater has bench seat like the one in mini van. So you can fold it flat and move seats with manual levers. When you fold seats flar, you can have more cargo spaces in the back. However 6 seater can’t fold the 2nd row and move seats automatically using the button on the side or from the driver screen. 3 rd row can be folded flat for all seating options.

Many people are wondering what is the difference especially between 6 seater and 7 seater in terms of space. Personally I also had this question and tried to find the information, but there are not much information about it. Even not many Tesla showroom has 7 seater, so it was very hard to compare.

Hope this comparison with photos can help you decide for your order.

Here are some feature differences.

* 6 seater
- 2nd row has 2 seats and you can add center console or not(no difference on price)
- 2nd row seats are mechanic controlled by buttons and driver can also move the seats on the screen
- 2nd row can be all the way forward right behind 1st row with one click to help 3rd row easily accesible.
- more legroom on 2nd row and 3rd row.
- can be reclined, and 2nd row bottom and back seat is moving together for reclining
- 2nd row not foldable
- back of 2nd row material is same(plastic) as back of 1st row and round ended

* 7 seater
- 2nd row has 3 seats and can be folded flat
- 2nd row is bench seat, so folding or moving is same as what it does in mini van. Moving is manual and driver can’t control it through the screen
- can be reclined. Reclining angle is much more han 6 seater
- less legroom on 2nd row and a lot less legroom on 3rd row
- no center console
- back of 2nd row material is same(cloth) as back of 3rd row and flat. It may be due to help cargo space when it's folded

Below is photo comparison. Left is 6 seater and Right is 7 seater

* 2nd row when 2nd row is moved most forward
2nd row in 6 seater can be moved more forward until behind 1st row to help people to access 3rd row, so I stopped at some point for better comparison.

* 3rd row when 2nd row is moved most forward

* 2nd row when 2nd row is moved all the way back

* 3rd row when 2nd row is moved all the way back
